Derek J. Haynes elected Firm Shareholder

Porter Scott is pleased to announce that Derek Haynes has been elected the firm’s newest shareholder, effective January 1, 2017.

Derek was born and raised in Sacramento. He clerked for the firm while attending McGeorge School of Law and continued with the firm following graduation. He represents public and private entities in a variety of legal matters, including employment, wage-and-hour, civil rights and general civil defense. He has trial experience in both state and federal court, he has drafted and successfully advocated hundreds of motions including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgement, motions in limine, demurrers and discovery motions. He has been named one of Northern California Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars each of the last 5 years.

Outside of the office, Derek is active in the community, having served as the President of Habitat for Humanity-Yolo County and on the Board of Habitat for Humanity-Sacramento. He is an avid sports fan and he and his wife are expecting their first child in March.
