About

Russell Porter, Irv Scott, Ned Weiberg, and John Delehant were successful trial attorneys and partners in well-established Sacramento law firms. But something was missing. Law firms had forgotten that clients should be treated like family and not merely billable hours on a ledger. So, in August 1976, the four founded Porter Scott on the simple concept that service to the client and achieving the best possible result are the firm’s highest priorities.

Since 1976, we have grown in number, added to our areas of practice, and expanded the range of our representation throughout the state. But we still embrace our humble beginning as a firm of four attorneys and a law clerk by remembering that our relationship with our clients is the most important aspect of our firm.

Clients appreciate our cost-effective approach to handling litigation, whether it involves early resolution or taking a case all the way through trial. Our commitment to civility, professionalism, and integrity has been rewarded with Martindale-Hubbell AV ratings, and selection of a number of our attorneys into prestigious peer-evaluated organizations such as the American Board of Trial Advocates and the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Stability and teamwork are the hallmarks of a successful law firm. Carl Fessenden was selected by the shareholders of the firm as Managing Shareholder. Assisting Carl in governance of the firm are Board of Director members Carl Calnero, David Melton, Jonathan Corr, and Chad Tapp. Under their leadership the talented and diverse group of litigators and support staff who make up the firm provide exceptional legal representation to the community we serve.

Welcome to the Porter Scott family.
