Joanne L. Gothard

Associate

Joanne is a Sonoma County native who fell in love with Sacramento during law school and never plans to leave. Joanne’s legal practice focuses on Employment and Public entities law, representing clients in the private and public sectors. She takes pride in serving her Sacramento Area local community and informs her practice through a blend of intellect and creativity, which allows her to best serve her clients by crafting compelling arguments and advocating in court.

During her time at McGeorge School of Law, Joanne gained valuable legal experience as a judicial law clerk at the United States District Court Eastern District of California and at the California Third Appellate District. She also served as both a Staff Writer and Primary Editor for Volumes 51 and 52 of the University of the Pacific Law Review, was a research and teaching assistant, and graduated with top honors.

Outside the office you will find Joanne in the kitchen cooking creative meals and finding unique ways to use her sourdough starter, on the couch with a sci-fi or graphic novel, engaged in an art project, hunched over an epic Lego® set, or outside adventuring with her paddleboard and two beloved dogs.
