Norman V. Prior


Norm has always enjoyed the technical and scientific challenges of staying current in the constantly changing worlds of medicine and the law. When he’s not reading medical literature, he enjoys the much more relaxing challenges of golf and fishing.

Norm is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been a shareholder of Porter Scott since 1999. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1982 from the University of California at Berkeley and obtained his J.D. in 1986 from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. For more than 20 years, Norm’s practice has included all aspects of general civil litigation with emphasis on representing doctors, hospitals, healthcare providers, and other professionals in medical malpractice, elder and dependent adult abuse, and licensing and administrative actions. Representative clients include the Regents of the University of California, Sutter Health and its affiliated hospitals, and Adventist Health and its affiliated hospitals.

Norm is committed to providing excellent legal representation to his clients and prides himself on creative problem solving in litigation. Norm’s practice also includes alternative dispute resolution services such as binding arbitration, mediation, and client counseling and education.
