Nancy J. Sheehan

The best lawyers are those who don’t waste their clients’ time and money fighting about issues that don’t matter. Nancy prides herself on getting excellent results for her clients while keeping civility and professionalism at the forefront. “You can be nice and fearsome at the same time."

Nancy joined Porter Scott after spending two years as a judicial attorney at the Third District Court of Appeal. She handled her first employment case in 1986 and quickly developed an interest in that area of law. Today, Nancy leads a team of employment litigators and enjoys a distinguished reputation among members of the bench and bar as an expert in her field. Her record of results in trying more than 30 employment cases to juries in state and federal court puts her in demand by employers in both the public and private sector. Her trial experience reaches to other areas of law, including a nationally recognized Title IX athletics case for the University of California.

Nancy has been honored with admission to the top peer-reviewed organizations for trial lawyers. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the International Society of Barristers. Nancy is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. She served as the President of the Sacramento Valley Chapter of ABOTA, received the Chapter’s Civility Award for her professionalism in dealing with counsel and the courts, and was named as the Chapter’s Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2014- the first woman to receive that honor. Northern California Super Lawyers magazine featured her in its cover story in 2012. (link).
