History
In August of 1976, the law firm of Porter, Scott, Weiberg & Delehant was formed by Russell Porter, A. Irving "Irv" Scott, Edwin "Ned" Weiberg and John Delehant. With the exception of Russell Porter, the founding partners are now retired from the firm, each having earned exceptional reputations in their fields. More than thirty-five years later, lawyers at the firm still recognize the commitment the founders made to building a trial law firm second to none. We do not forget that Porter Scott’s reputation as Sacramento’s leading trial law firm began with their efforts.
From its inception, trying significant and complex lawsuits has been a mainstay of the firm's practice and has resulted in continuing growth and expansion through a diversity of clients and industries. Today, Porter Scott handles litigation disputes in almost every conceivable situation and circumstance that an entity might typically face in the course of doing business.
What was once a small firm of four has since grown to more than 50 attorneys. In June of 2007, the firm changed its name to Porter Scott. The shorter name recognizes the firm's transition from an early partnership that has matured into an institution - one which is now recognized as a premier litigation firm in the Sacramento region.
Lawyers at the firm have the highest regard and admiration for the founding partners. They instilled the culture, work ethic and professional standards that formed a foundation for growth and prosperity. We look forward to developing future generations of talented lawyers who will continue the firm's commitment to client service, efficiency and developing creative solutions for businesses and public entities in northern California.
