Michael W. Pott

Email: mpott@porterscott.com

After moving back to California from Portland, Oregon, Mr. Pott joined Porter Scott in 1997. Michael began his career working on construction defect and inverse condemnation cases, but quickly developed an interest in employment litigation. The first employment cases that he handled were for the Sacramento City Unified School District and he was successful in getting a string of cases dismissed by way of motions for summary judgment. (See Keyser v. Sacramento City Unified School District, 265 F.3d 741 [9th Cir. 2001]) From there, he continued to cultivate his employment practice and over time, has developed an expertise in handling employment matters including representing clients at mediation, arbitration, administrative hearings, writ proceedings and trials.

In addition to litigating employment cases, Michael also provides advice to businesses and public entities regarding employment and labor matters. He has taught classes to employers, attorneys and risk managers regarding the California Fair Employment and Housing Act and has also participated as a panelist for Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) courses on Law and Motion Practice and Emerging Issues in Employment Law.
